It has always been a tedious job for the management to set the salary range for teachers at various levels, when we speak about levels our teaching staffs are categorized into following levels:
- Primary Teachers (PRT)
- Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT)
- Post Graduate Teachers (PGT)
The Government of India has set up a pay commission and on regular basis we are updated with its recommendations regarding changes in salary structure of its employees. Since independence it has been updating the pay commission, the 7th pay commission, has been launched in September 2015, after this new pay commission, teachers in all primary schools, secondary and higher secondary schools, colleges and universities will have a hiked net salary of around 16 %. In addition to this, the retired teachers will get a pension, 24 % more than what they are receiving at present. The yearly increment will be 3 % of the basic salary, which will be the same as earlier.
